Denstone College, Uttoxeter

Woods Hardwick Architects are proud to have worked with Denstone College to help accommodate a new Prep School provision within the main school Campus.

Working alongside project managers Ainsley and Partners, Woods Hardwick helped the school explore a number of new build and re-use/refurbishment options to best accommodate the new provision, within budgetary and timescale constraints.

The preferred option saw the re-use and complete refurbishment of an under-utilised classroom building to provide new classroom and changing spaces, WC provision, school offices and shared multi-use spaces, along with an upgrade of external areas for improved car parking and appropriate play space. Structural alterations to create new spaces, use of bold colour palettes to distinguish year groups and colourful wall graphics help to zone the spaces and provide fresh and contemporary upgrade to the existing building.

Working within the curtilage of Denstone College, an impressive Grade 2 listed building, and responding to Heritage Consultant advice, Woods Hardwick prepared and submitted planning and Listed Building consent applications for the works and provided a full technical detailing package to see the project through to completion.
