Brampton Park

The former RAF Brampton site received outline consent for 400 homes. Woods Hardwick was appointed to redesign the masterplan previously established and presented the Vision with a Design Code for the development of c.650 homes, retail units and a care home. The site was acquired by the client with the benefit of a DOI designed masterplan for residential development, but had little regard for the heritage asset of Brampton Park House or the beautiful arboretum
that surrounds the site.

This site contained 20th-century military offices – to be demolished – as well as Listed Buildings, Listed Walled Gardens. The proposed Walled Garden was particularly interesting as the wall was listed and immediately adjacent to the Listed Brampton Park House and Coach houses. Designing a sense of place and securing Consents required a collaborative approach between disciplines. The design proposed a cluster of modest, yet beautifully proportioned cottages outward-looking onto the listed wall, creating a unique and intimate community of homes.

The masterplan was completely redesigned and supported by a Design Code for a Georgian Parkland development based around the listed Brampton Park House.

The site is now under construction and due to be completed by the end of 2021.
