Frantzen Roof Top Restaurant

Woods Hardwick Architects are proud to have worked with Stockholm based Joyn Studio, one the most decorated and renowned Interior Architectural practices in Europe to create a unique destination restaurant on one of the Capital’s most distinguishable landmarks at Harrods.

This ambitious restaurant concept fuses together Scandinavian and Asian design influences and is a split level installation located on the 5th floor in a 8000sqft site set between the Shoe Heaven and Hair & Beauty departments (also undertaken by Woods Hardwick), and a currently unoccupied 6th floor roof area, creating sensational views across the London city scape from a new ‘super cool’ terrace bar.

Harrods, being  Grade II* listed and built 150 years ago, has a number of building fabric constraints that the design team had to work carefully through to ensure that the final design proposal respected the heritage of this iconic building.

As the Executive Architect for this project, Woods Hardwick were responsible for the initial building strategic appraisal, planning liaison, and ultimately the technical and statutory design resolution, whilst creating a canvas for Joyn to realise their fantastic concept design.

We took on board the wider design team requirements to  cultivate a cohesive and coordinated, deliverable design solution that achieves the Clients logistical requirements and the ambitious aspirations of the interior architecture.

The project was completed in Spring 2023 and recently was a winner at the 2023 International Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, in the ‘Another Space’ category.
