Luton Airport’s £160m transformation is the “biggest development” in its 80-year history. Set to increase capacity by 50% allowing it to welcome 18m passengers by 2020, the new and improved retail offer is a huge part of this three year overhaul. And thats where Woods Hardwick’s Architecture team comes in.

We have worked with global travel retail provider Lagardere at Luton Airport to provide a stylish new duty free shopping offer in arrivals and adapted the departures destination to create the optimum customer experience. From quick turnaround modifications to long term fit out plans, we work with their team to deliver the very best in interior retail architecture solutions. As Phil Manning, Operations Director at Lagardère Travel Retail UK and Ireland explained:

“We are always impressed with the effective and highly creative ideas that Woods Hardwick delivers for us. We are looking forward to working with the team again in the future as airport retail continues to go from strength to strength.”

And it’s only set to grow even more. Jonathan Pollard, Chief Commercial Officer, at London Luton Airport explained recently:

“For many retailers, airports are an antidote to the High Street and business is booming…… Travel retail is one of the most attractive categories for brands, offering an incredible opportunity for building brand recognition, as well as providing a great platform for consumer trials. Airport retailers have a steady stream of customers who can respond to new technologies, store layouts and products.”
