Progressing the Huntingdon skyline
Woods Hardwick is delighted to be involved in shaping the skyline in Huntingdon. A high density scheme on a challenging linear site adjacent to Huntingdon railway station, we worked closely with our client, Lochailort Investments and the District Council to progress the scheme that has now secured planning consent and is out for tender.
This derelict brownfield site was formerly in a mix of commercial and industrial uses but had lain vacant for several years. Set in a prime position between Huntingdon’s railway station and the town centre, detailed representations were made to the Local Planning Authority, securing a change in its zoning from retail to residential uses. Following consultation with the Town Council, Planning Officers, adjacent occupiers and other interested parties, a detailed full planning application was submitted for over 300 new homes and retail/commercial units. The masterplan has been designed to the highest quality, using bespoke architecture to “put back what has been lost” and enhance the character and appearance of the nearby Conservation Area and listed buildings
With spacious apartments, multi-layered private amenity spaces and views into and across Huntingdon, we are excited to be part of the future of this historic Cambridgeshire market town.
